Midnight Sun T.R.E.A.T.

T.R.E.A.T.
(The Royal Eccentric Ale Treatment)
Imperial Chocolate Pumpkin Porter
7.8 % ABV. 30 IBU
Gold Medal GABF 2007
Midnight Sun Brewing Company
Anchorage, Alaska
Although this is a Halloween Seasonal,
I think it would be better as a Thanksgiving Treat.
It would go great with Pumpkin Pie, or Pumpkin Cheesecake.
The pumpkin flavors are not too strong in this.
The rich roasted chocolate porter is dominant.
Delicious and full flavored.
Heavy taste of dark, creamy chocolate, rich roasted malt,
with an amazing backdrop of cinnamon, and nutmeg.
The chocolate flavor is strong and slightly bittersweet.
Delicious, rich cocoa and roasty chocolate malt.
The spices are not overpowering and strong upfront,
more like seasoning in the background, as spices should be.
The aftertaste, and mouthfeel, is pure cinnamon.
If the idea of a chocolate pumpkin spice porter is at all appealing to you, then you will love this beer.
It tastes like an excellent example of exactly that.
If you hate chocolate malty porters and pumpkin pie spices, avoid this, you won't like it.
Will be drinking more bottles next month.
Happy Halloween!
Vigorous pour produced bubbly head.
Glad I picked up multiple bottles.
